10/11 marked the National Day of Solidarity with the Irvine 11.
UC, CSU, and community college students across California held demonstrations, organized teach-ins, and wrote op-eds about the trial and how its outcome threatened to quell free speech. Whether it was done silently and symbolically by placing tape over one’s mouth or by speaking to others and distributing informational sheets to your peers, the Stand with the 11 Campaign salutes your work. On 10/11, it was through these actions that we challenged the verdict itself by taking demonstrative steps to sustain critical discussions on campus, and we will continue doing so.
Stay tuned for next steps on how to do this, and thank you for standing with the Irvine 11.
